Earth
Thermal System (ETS) - Horizontal & Vertical
ETS uses the thermal properties of our earth surface. Here, a
closed-loop water or antifreeze is pressurized and circulated in a
plastic pipe laid in horizontal trenches digged to formation using
plastic pipe laid in horizontal formation. The typical depth required
per RT of refrigeration is 4 to 6 feet x (75 to 400 ft) of area.
For Vertical system, the pressurized pipes are inserted into vertical
bore holes drilled to the depth of 100 - 350ft per RT. This is suitable
where land area is limited. One significant advantage of the vertical
system (albeit costlier) is that it enjoy the unique temperature
property of year-round consistency. |
